OCN CSS gungame discussion thread

Consider me GG newb, as I hadn't ever played it until I played at this server.. now with that said, I have a couple questions.

Is it possible to play at stock maps when playing GG?
Is low-gravity always enabled? Or do you guys turn it off sometimes?

It'd be cool to play this gungame stuff at say dust2, but maybe that's because i'm a dust2 freak...

Our server is always on low gravity (200 vs the default 800). Stock maps are *possible*, but defuse\hostage maps aren't usually the best for gungame. Also there are many glitches with the stock maps when you have low gravity.

he pretty much answered the question in the post before. ocn runs the server on low grav because its appealing for air strafeing / surfing whatever you want to call it at least from my taking that would be the reason its enabled, of corse you can run a server on default gravity but you should at least go to 700 to be able to hop easier onto certain objects in fun maps.

I personally like the low gravity, it makes getting around easier and, in my opinion, more fun. I think almost everybody that plays on the server agrees and likes the low gravity. There are plenty of normal gravity servers and its nice to have a 32-slot low gravity server. Plus, these maps just work great with low gravity.

As for the maps, I think that Playground and Factory should be removed. Playground is just feels too large and complicated for a quick moving gungame map. Factory is too large with two distinct levels and it messes with the player and gun models. Factory might be somewhat acceptable if there was only one level and it did not mess up the models. Hitman1985 suggested that dipmap should be removed, but I personally like it. Dipmap is a a level with a simple and good design.

I made a couple maps for CS 1.6 and used them on a friend's gungame server. The ones that were most popular were maps that were medium-sized, had a few textures, and was simple and easy to navigate enough that anyone didn't have to learn the nooks and crannies of the map to be the best.

I'd love to see a couple of the old maps back, such as

or just more maps in general, some new ones, but somehow make it a balance where all the maps seemed equally good.

Fight Yard was terribly stacked (imo)...

I'd like to see rtv come back so we can have more maps on the server and not hurt the traffic if a lot of people don't like a specific map.

Unfortunately, don't have any new recommendations, but some new changes to the server would be great.

Bring the following back:

-Rock the vote (alot of the times, the server gets stuck on deagle and playground, which noone plays and noone goes on)
-gg_circular

Change the following:

-Get rid of nuclearfallout....stats still haven't reappeared
-Change the server location to Chicago or somewhere more towards the center of North America since Dallas isn't a good location for people up north (not necessarily Canada, but other Americans as well)

Do the following:

-Uninstall and reinstall the server. Please. Hellscream promised to do this, but it still hasn't happened yet.
-Fix the choke.
