Default OCN vs EVGA Wrap-Up Thread

First of all and most importantly, thanks to everyone who showed interest in playing in the game tonight. It was the most difficult thing to do when I had to cut the 120+ people who wanted to play down to 16+8 alternates. I think we allowed to most to play that could. Sorry if you couldn't play but we'll do another one of these in the future.

Special thanks to:
Blizzie - for setting up the EVGA end
Server Mods - for changing to maps, etc.
OCN - hosting the server
EVGA - For the backup server
steelrain33 - for his backup server as well

For the time I was there, I felt it went pretty smoothly. They were some of the more intense games I have played and I had a good time.

Obviously, as with any 'first', there are some things we can improve on. Here are some I noticed:
  1. The Team - We chose a team and I posted that in the thread. Then everyone who wasn't on the team kind of lost interest and I don't think came back to the thread. By the timeThis caused the backup servers to not get used nearly at all.
  2. Backup Servers - Also, partially related to number 1 is that EVGA doesn't have as many people as we do. Sure, they have full servers but as for TF2 players who frequent the forum, not so much. Many people in the backup servers expected to have EVGA folks to beat on. This, compounded with the many people who never even knew that there WERE backup servers caused them to sort of flop. I feel partially responsible for this but who knew? Now we do. Hopefully those who donated their time and servers for us will give us a second chance.
  3. Misc. - Other ways to get involved. A sourceTV channel would have allowed more people to at least WATCH the game and see what is going on. We didn't get it set up this time but maybe next time we will get it running.

In conclusion, the game was a success and I think much fun was had. Hopefully we can get the kinks worked out and maybe do it again next month. If you want to get mad and vent for any reason (not being able to play, cancelled your date to play and couldn't, etc.) feel free to PM me and we can work it out.

Also, don't miss the EVGA Decade games, they'll have around 15 servers.

Feel free to use this thread to post screens, talk about the game, what we can improve, etc.

Good game everyone. This went really well and I will let EVGA know about it personally. If anyone is up for it, I think we're all interested in doing this again so more OCNers can play.

Sorry we couldn't accomodate all your players since we don't have as many as you do. Also, I think many of you were expecting EVGA in the backup servers but there were not much more of us to play in the backup.

Thanks OCN for taking time to play with us.

It wasn't a scrim but if I had to pick a team, EVGA had the upper hand. We put up a good fight but in the end, I'd say they 'won'. Once again, this was never intended to be a scrim but in the end some people felt that is what it was.

I thought it was fun. Moral started to drop, and good players started leaving; but it was fun the rest of the time.

I had a great time. Didn't expect the EVGAers to be so good. I'll post a screen as soon as I can.

BTW: Can you post tga files on here? If not, how would I convert to jpeg?

I just use Paint.net. I need to get TF2 to save the screens as jpegs.

I know that Photoshop will open/save as other formats. PDN might do the same thing.
