TF2, question.. - Overclock.net

I just re-downloaded TF2 after having not played it since it first came out and wow, the server I was in the weapons had levels, everything seemed more fun (like the heavys eating a sandwich "om nom nom nom", halos on peoples heads etc

Was this just a modded server or is this the norm?
I really enjoyed that

Halo's are for all servers. The sandvich is also.
The weapon levels go across all servers, but actually yield no benefit at all. A lvl 50 bow will kill you just as fast as a lvl 1.
But it sounds like you were on a stock server.

The Sandvich is an unlockable "weapon." The Halos are hats that were giving to those who didn't use an external program.

As Karma said the weapons of the levels do nothing.

I don't know if you got your full answer, but since you last played, there have been new weapons/items added. Unlike many games, the unlocks are rarely 'better' than the original although they do often serve different uses.

The sandvich you mentioned is a good example. It takes the spot of the Heavy's shotgun, and while he is eating it, he can't fight or stop eating. BUT, it gives you health and you can eat as many as you want.

Same with other weapons. They give more damage at a HP decrease, or faster firing w/ longer reload, etc.

The game has enough variety to keep it interesting for older players but doesn't unbalance anything for new ones.

Some servers will have hat and clothing mods but the stuff you mentioned was most likely stock.

Fills up most nights in the US/CAN. There is a Thread you can bump that people use to fill up the server. It can be found at the TF2 thread in my sig.
