Anyways, this needs a bump. Lately a lot of posts are missing simple punctuation, sentence structure and spacing.

It makes the site look a lot (two words, by the way) better when you look them over and correct mistakes.
Not only that, but typing like this makes it easier to read for everyone.

But as the rules state, we are supposed to use proper English (spelling, punctuation, grammar, etc.) because Overclock.net's usability depends on it.

I agree 100%. We need someone to be more on the ball with this. This is a very big ordeal, and needs to be enforced.

I see posts every single day from people, (New Members, Senior Members) both posting with a lazy attitude at times.

I feel that the IM/Text Messaging chat is NOT to be used on this site. It's not that the site wants to be strict, it's to make the site more Professional since that is what Admin and the rest of the Staff wants from the members. It makes the site much better to read and understand, especially your own post if you take the time to edit the post if there are mistakes, or take a few extra moments to check over your post before you click "Submit Reply".

The general rule used currently is that as long as the post is readable, it will generally be let go.

IMO if OCN REALLY is determined to effectively have a great professional website, there will need to be an age limit. I know that this is not only an unrealistic suggestion but nearly impossible to reinforce. My point is that 10 year olds, and even some 15 year olds do not know proper grammar, and punctuation. Not to mention generally lack a professional type of mentality. TBH There are even a lot of 18, and 20 year olds that seem to afflicted by this same issue. While many of us pride ourselves on our ability to be professional, many others are completely incapable. A fantastic example of this are all the fanboys. IMO being a fanboys if very very unprofessional, as being bias in general is just plain unprofessional. That said mods will have their hands beyond full trying to keep up with enforcement.

An age limit? I think the Age Guessing thread is proof that age limits simply aren't needed - in fact, the younger people on the forum are often those who use the best grammar, i.e. meticadpa.

The problem isn't with age but attitude. Report posts which are clearly trolling/inflammatory and those members who don't have the right attitude will be weeded out by the infraction system.

A single, overarching age limit of 20+ may remove some of the problems, but would also remove many of the members on the forums who actually help out, as well as a couple of moderators (past and present). Plus, it would be impossible to enforce.

Exactly.

People would not guess my age judging by my contribution to the community, but such a rule would nix my immediately and for more than just a year.

We have many great members on these forums that are just in their teens. Not even judging by rep amount, some of them are just the ones that keep clubs up to date to the info keeps getting shared.

The unfortunate reality is that age does not necessarily equate to maturity - just as there are many members under any arbitrary age who cannot seem to function in the community properly, there are equally as many over whatever number would be picked who are afflicted by the same issues. I'll use myself as a personal example - I joined the site when I was 14, and have worked for it since I was 16. All we can do is encourage mature, reasonably professional posting from all members, as a simple age limit (if we could theoretically enforce it properly) would invariably cut out many of our contributors.
