Question Ask the Pro Confirmed - Feedback Needed

Hi Guys,
We have secured a pro for our very first Ask the Pro event which will be focused on power/PSUs.

Before we announce who the pro is and the final theme of the event, we wanted to get your input.

What are the types of things you would like to have discussed? What types of questions would you like to have answered?

Assume you have access to someone who can provide a LOT of perspective on this topic through his years of experience as both a consumer and a product manager at a leading hardware maker

Thanks,
admina

I've got a question I'd like answered:
Do you really need a HUGE name brand PSU to power a single new card such as the G92?

Other than that, can't wait for the event .

Awesome idea

Q: Are dual/triple/quad rails really necessary and do they provide improved stability or improved performance over single rails? If so, how?
Q: Are adjustable rails a gimmick or are they actually useful to consumers?
Q: Just how dangerous is it to open a PSU?

EDIT: Oh oh, is it going to be jonnyguru?

Q: What is the real deal regarding multiple rails and stability/performance.
Q: What are key things to keep in mind when PSU shopping besides wattage?
Q: Since we are all modders at heart, is there anything we can do to mod our PSU's to perform better?

Great idea.

Q. What would be YOUR idea of the perfect PSU, and which PSU in your opinion has come the closest to this?

Edit... Anytime anyone says Too Much Power or something similar i always want to find and post a picture of Tim Taylor... Off subject but it was what i was thinking...

Good deal admin!

Q: Please name the top 3 sub-$100 PSUs, top 3 sub-$75, any in the $50 range? Perhaps just manufacturer's names....
Q: I keep seeing people get chastised for having a 1200W PSU to power their systems. Does it really hurt to have "Too Much Power"?

Sweet,
Q: If a psu has quad rail (ex. 18A x4), is it actually 72A? and if it isnt, how do u calculate the actual amperage of a psu?

Which is more efficient, single rail or multi rails?
Discuss the huge difference between wattage and overall amps, and how exactly to add the amps up between rails.

Q: There has often been questions on how to short a power supply to make it work without a motherboard. Some say Yellow to any black, while I've seen Green to Black work. How can I make a power supply work without a motherboard without damaging it?

Q: Some components, like sound cards, can be modded with better components to achieve better sound. Could a modder change the capacitors and other components in order to improve their power supply's output?

Q: What makes a power supply efficient?

Oh and prosser, opening a PSU is quite dangerous. I've gotten enough power to melt the pins on my multi-meter, and I got zapped right after. Not exactly a pleasant experience, and potentially deadly if you are unsupervised and get stuck on it.
