Arrow Overclock.net Case Mod Competition 2008 [Information]

The 2008 Overclock.net Case Mod Competition plans on being the biggest modding competition we have ever put on.

In addition to loads of prize money, we have added 3 "classes" to the structure: Pro, Intermediate and Amateur. Also, a Special Voting category has been setup to award prizes based on additional criteria like "Most Unique", "Simple Yet Effective" etc.

Rules (still a work in progress)
  • All mods must have been started no earlier than April 1, 2008
  • Registration closes May 1, 2008
  • Builds must be completed by July 1, 2008
  • No "sponsored" builds allowed
  • All builders must declare which category they will be entering into before the competition begins. Staff reserve the right to move builders as they see fit - please pick the category that best fits your skill level
  • Detailed, picture-rich build logs must be kept
  • All rules are subject to change at anytime

Does that help at all? I know it's a generic answer :/
If this is the first time you do a case mod then I would recommend the "Amateur" category. If you have some experience in case mods then "Intermediate" should be the right category for you depending on how you view your own skill level. Good Luck on deciding

Sounds awesome admin, but why only three months to do the mod? I understand that we can't just have it run all year long, but it seems that a lot of good mods either won't be completed in time or will get rushed. Perhaps a month or two longer?

But each class has a separate vote right?

So if you go into Pro you will essentially be competing against all the big shots (Syrillian..CyberD)...heh

Correct. Judging is per class.

In terms of which class you enter, we encourage those who enter to aim high, and push themselves. But we would absolutely discourage members who enter a class lower than their current talents warrant.

I'm in!! Just not sure what class I should enter. Also the time frame is kinda short. Any consideration to adding a month to it? Us people up north don't really see summer until June or so.

Make sure you sandpaper the hole, and then put some U rubber over it to avoid sharp edges. Put some grease around the newly drilled hole, and then screw your computer, screw it hard. Maybe install some UV lights and turn em up to indicate that your computer is also excited.

So if we under(or under) estimate ourselves and staff see's us being outcompeted, or overcompeting in our class they will move us up or down? Did I understand that?
This is to prevent people from "sand-bagging" (excuse the loose term) basically to avoid Pro modders that have the experience from competing in "Intermediate/Amateur" categories
