As some of you may have noticed, the title of this post does not match the title of the solicitation for the positions. We had not finalized the titles for the staff positions when these openings were advertised, and they since have been named Forum Supervisors. The details of the positions are unchanged.

We received a total of 21 nominations, and it was difficult to pare the list down to just two, especially with a large number of other positions still pending. The two members selected both wrote solid nominations, have made good contributions to the site, and have clean histories. Our new Marketplace Forums Forum Supervisors are RyGuy and alexgheseger.

I will discuss the positions private with our successful nominees, and hopefully we can get the positions implemented in the very near future. With the new staff structure, several changes and additions will need to be made to the forum to accommodate the FS positions. This will be accomplished no later than July 9 (when the remainder of the positions are announced) and very likely sooner.

To everyone else who applied, we appreciate your time, effort, and interest. Several of you have other positions awaiting you, so keep an eye out for the next round of announcements on July 9.

Hrm...well, kinda both. As nominations have been coming in, I've been "penciling" in various members who have made a strong case for various forums. Nothing will be set in stone until the final announcement is made for those positions, but I think it's safe to say that several of the nominees for this position who have also applied for other positions will be selected. Also, some of the nominees who applied for this position would have a good shot at other positions if they choose to apply for them.

Although I looked at about a dozen different things for each nominees (including a cross section of each nominee's posts), three of the more compelling items were -

1) A well written nomination. Both of the successful nominees let us know that they really wanted these positions.
2) Quality posts and posting style. I by no means read every post by every nominee, but I did read 5-15 random longer posts by each nominee.
3) A lack of significant warnings/infractions. Neither of the successful nominees had so much as a warning on their record. A light history of warnings/infractions is not a significant detriment, especially if they came well in the past, but a few nominees slid down the rankings due to having too many or too recent infractions.
