I Eat Cases Mmmmm.
![]() |
Good day all! I'm betting most of you though we had forgotten about the June MOTM. Unfortunately with all the changes going on it got put on the back burner, however here we go! The rules are the same as May's MOTM, and follow this opening paragraph. The one exception for nominee's is that the mod being nominated can not be a mod that is in the Case Mod Comp. All unfinished mods that do not qualify for judging in the comp are welcome though. If you have a questions please feel free to ask.
Nominations are closed Each month, Overclock.net will be awarding a prize for "Mod of the Month" - the best hardware modification featured on Overclock.net - as selected by members. Here's how it will work: Any mod recently created by an Overclock.net member and that is exclusively posted on Overclock.net is eligible to be entered Each month, a request for nominations will be made Each mod can be nominated up to 2 times All nominated mods will be placed in a poll for members to decide the winner The winner will receive a $50 cash prize and will have an icon placed in their postbit These are some general guidelines to get us started. We will fine tune them as we go - so as always they are subject to change. Please post your nomination for Mod of the Month in this thread. This months entrants are..... Cyberduid - KennyMaster's Tech Station Russkiy - Ultra Blue Mother Fire MNiceGuy - Legacy CattleRustler -Jessie's Gumdrop XLashhotx - Unwanted Rsfkevski - Blue Crazer Transformed By-Tor - The Dark Spider Wall Socket - Betty HTPC Masbuskado - Darknight [IN CASE OF A TIE] I give the winners the choice of either holding a tie breaker or splitting the prize. Just in case the finalists don't choose the same option. We default to splitting the prize money between the winners. I did this because most ties result in two people. As you know, there is a good chance that they will not choose the same option. For the Tie breakers we hold a little competition that will put their modding skills to the test. We pick out a common and inexpensive building material for our finalists. This material will be the only component that our finalists can use in the construction of the tie breaking object. The object they build could be any number of things. We may decide that they will use their materials to make a bird house. We may have them create A mouse holster. We could set a task like build the tallest structure using only McDonald's straws, and string to hold it all together. This method gives us endless possibilities to use as tie breakers. To guarantee a winner from the tie breaker we will use a panel consisting of an odd number of judges instead of an open poll. These judges will consist of Forum Members as well as Staff Members. Half of the judges will be veteran modders, the rest will be non modders. The judges will be instructed to grade the object in several different categories. If the object was required to perform a task that will be the first thing the judges will look at. [25%]Object can or cannot perform task? [25%]Yes [0%]No [0-30%]Design aspects of the object [0-10%]Creativity (Think outside the box, Be Different) [0-10%]Style (Symmetry, is it pretty?) [0-10%]Quality (Does it look like it may fall apart?) [0-20%]Site Tribute (Create the OCN flame somewhere in your design) [0-25%]Judges personal opinion
