New Site Feature: Google Spreadsheets In Your Post - Overclock.net

You can now embed Google Spreadsheets into your posts. This is beneficial for people that create, update, and maintain lists of data for others to view in the forums.

To embed a spreadsheet into a post you will need to copy the public link of the spreadsheet and you can display it using any of the following parameters:

Parameters for Google Spreadsheet

&w=100 (This is percent, substitute the 100 for any number from 1-100)
&h=600 (This is pixel height, substitute the 600 for any number from 1-whatever, but be reasonable)
&gid=0 (This is the sheet number, substitute the 0 for any sheet number)
&single=true (This will display a single sheet)

*IMPORTANT* If you use both the width and height parameters you will have to order them with the width first and then height or our system will not recognize the link.

Publishing the Spreadsheet

The following is how to correctly publish the spreadsheet your working on so that you can include the link in your post.

1) First you need to click the "Share" button:

2) Next select "Publish as a web page":

3) Now the "Publish to the web" box appears:

4) Check the "Automatically republish when changes are made" box if it is not already. Also make sure you select "Web page" in the first drop down box under "Get a link to the published data" section. Then make sure that the highlighted word "pub" is there in the link. Anything else will not allow the link to be parsed by OCN.

5) Finally use the highlighted portion of the like below along with the options previously described to create your link to be added to your post.

Awesome addition! Maybe spreadsheets should be given some default size? Chrome shows them a bit too small when no width and height are defined.
