Removal of the Chat System
Dear all,
In an ongoing effort to improve the user experience for all overclock.net members we have decided to focus our “live” aspects to our core content. Currently our chat room provides an extension to our off topic forums, since we have asked that members limit technical discussions. We understand and appreciate the benefits of “live” discussion, so we have decided to focus our efforts in creating a more interactive version of our main forum. Our core goal was always the pursuit of performance and the site administration feels that the chat room was a distraction to this goal. As we feel that the chat room has detracted from the overall quality of the site, it has been removed. Regards, Overclock.net Management Staff

Wow, I never saw this coming. Doesn't seem like a very good idea to me, as I've had some great discussions in chat that I'd never have had in the forums, but it's your site, not mine.

Damn, i really enjoyed chat and got to know people..
__________________A forum is about the community and although threads are ok to know people, you have to stay on topic.. Chat system enabled you to have an actual conversation with people which i thought was a nice feature of this website.

I totally agree with this. A moderator's time would be better sent monitoring the forum rather then an off topic chat room. As for vent, with the currant registration process I don't think it will be spammed as much.
