Val...I never had a clue. I fully support bumping this and OCN helping them out. Val, best of luck on your sales. If I could afford it, I would help.

I support this. I too have seen children with MDA and it's very heartwrenching to see the pain they have to deal with. I fully support this months 100 dollar donation to go to the MDA cause. Godspeed to all of those with this terrible affliction.

Bump for a good cause

Val a motor from an electric golf cart would be a tad over kill for a wheel chair
a golf cart not only weights more than a wheel chair it is expected to carry more weight

I think something like a lift gate drive motor would work quit well, 36 volt motor turning at 3600 RPM using freq. modulation to control speed would haul and have a nice high pitched scream as you accelerate.

I have to say this is the last place on Earth I expected to find a thread about the MDA. What a great organization. Through high school I worked as a cook at a Boy Scout camp and every summer (starting my sophomore year) the MDA held a week long summer camp. Man, what a great experience. My first three summers of college I would go out as much as I could to help out in the kitchen or just see how much fun the kids were having. They just absolutely loved what they referred to as "camp".

In some ways it got more and more emotional each time I saw some of the kids. Each year, a lot of them would lose a significant amount of mobility due to muscle tissue loss until they deteriorated to such a point that they just couldn't come to camp anymore. A lot of them handled their condition (usually Duchennne MD) with more courage and determination than I know I could have. As great as the MDA is, I really wish there was broader support for people with MD of one for or another and their families.

Bump for a great cause!

I've just re-read through all this again and as an "employee" of the federal government we get hit up every year for the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). I generally donate ~50 a month for a different cause every year and when it comes time again I'll put my donations toward MDA. If any other federal employees see this I urge you to consider the same.

I played SWG with a girl who had MD, she died not too long ago. She was only 15, and probably one of the nicest people you would ever meet. Why do all the bad things happen to good people?
