Well i'm in a bit of a pickle here and need to ask a question.
We all know vsync counters screen tearing but causes input lag.
We all know that if you drop below 60fps with vsync you automatically go to 30fps
We all know that if you have tripple buffering on, you drop to 53 or 45 fps before going to 30
We also know that limiting your MAX fps to 59 with vsync on eliminates the input lag that it usually causes.
Now i found a application called bandicam that can let me limit the fps on any game i have so obviously i would limit it to 59.
My question is if i limit the fps to 59, seeing as its not at 60 anymore, does it make the fps drop to 30? or 53/45 with tripple buffering on? or does it stay at a fluid 59, IE as fluid as vsync on at 60fps.

How are you going to limit the FPS to 59? : / I've always wanted to play with vSync and no mouse lag.. is that even possible?
Download bandicam and then click the fps section and where it says limit fps put 59, then uncheck "limit fps only when recording" and bam, fps on any game limited to 59.
fraps just says im at 59 fps all the time, with vsync if you dropped to 50fps it would still say 50fps but it would actually be 30fps and look like 30fps.
hmm, but does running at 59hz isnstead of 60 reduce the input lag? that is a good idea though dude guy, and honestly idk. sometimes i think the 59 is slower but i cant really tell.
i'll have to give it a try and let you know. i actually just reverted this newest driver, cos it sucks with some of the older games i've yet to finish.... damn game won't let me use my preferred 10.7 drivers........ UGH!
there's also a neat trick poasted here to reduce the stutter issues that i gotta try.
Tripple buffering should solve input lag on anything, enable it in ccc. Frankly i can't justify the performance hit with v-sync enabled, in most situations i cant see this screen tearing that is meant to exist without it and when it does occur it happens so little thats its neglible. Input lag plus the loss of 20fps+ leaves it disabled and buried in my book
EDIT: this is on my Asus VE247H not my sig CRT, it has the same effect regardless
It does for responsiveness, reduces mouse latenancy by alot etc. iirc there should be a thread somewhere around here that compares 60fps to 80-100fps on a 60hz monitor, something about intermediate frames. The reason i disable it is because even though i stay at around 70-80 avg there are the dips of 55, which with v-sync on i would drop to 45/30. The mouse lag from that is just bad, i can deal with tearing so to me v-sync is just a performance drag. You might not be able to see the frames but you'll be able to move your mouse alot more freely
Some engines have really noticeable screen tearing and BF3 makes this very apparent very fast.
The input lag on BF3 is irritating the further you move away from 60FPS and screen tearing is really distracting. This is actually more annoying on a 120Hz screen, would be interesting to see someone post a flat out solution to the issue.
I would suggest turning off Vsync, change any settings to get your average framerate up/down to meet 60 with an acceptable minimum, measure it through benchmarks and whack Vsync back on. Best you can hope for really unless you can resolve a way to measure not rendered frames but displayed frames.
hmm. i can maintain 59fps 24/7if i limit fps to 59
