Halo CE (Custom Edit) - PC - Overclock.net

So I just purchased a legal copy of Halo PC and downloaded Halo CE (Custom Edition). I got it last night but havnt had chance to play yet cuz im at work right now. I will be playing tonight and I would like some of you guys (if you havnt already) to check it out too.

What is Halo CE?
The Halo Custom Edition game (Halo CE) is a free unsupported upgrade and standalone program that will install alongside of your Halo PC game. Unlike Halo PC The Halo CE game allows you to play and create custom maps for multiplayer on-line play. But the fun doesnt stop there as you can also download/create single player maps. You will need Halo PC as CE is sort of like an expansion of the original game.

Edit: I Played Last night and here is my little review:

So i played last night and here is the scoop. I get on and go to multiplayer to see what custom maps are being played most. Then I switched over to the almighty Firefox and went to HaloMaps. I downloaded a good 15 maps. Maps dont take long to download as they are usually between 17 - 30mb. I get on a map called coldsnap and there are all kinds of vehicles. So I hopped in a warthog with Lamborghini doors and then into some kinda jet plane. I fly out of my base in my jet and then i get out to run around a bit. The sniper was completely custom made. Then i switch weapons to the smg but it is the same. So I get ready to switch back to my sniper but A THIRD WEAPON COMES UP!!!

It was a timed bomb. So I set it and stood back and after the time passed it blew up in an explosion so graphically awsome that I had to pick my jaw up off the floor. So I tried out some other maps with such things as a working battle rifle and a silenced smg and all kinds of vehicles including an atv and about 8 different warthogs. You can drive Mechs and get your mech assault on and all kinds of other vehicles. This is what will hold me over till halo 3 comes out. Oh did I mention that someone created an almost perfect replica of the halo 3 beta maps? Weapons, character models and all. It was awsome. It is hands down the best PC game i have ever laid eyes on because the possibilities are endless. $20 for a legal, store-bought copy of Halo PC and a free download of CE seems like a steal for such a great game. You should see how creative people have programmed AI. Did I mention how much fun I had playing haloball.map? 4 blue and 4 red warthogs, 2 goals, and a big round ball. Halo soccer. And for those of you who have played halo 2 on xbox and like to play "Hog Wars"..... this will give you a while new meaning when 16 people can have their own hog and chose from different types. Truly the most amazing game I have played..... sorry this is so long.

I always thought Halo CE stood for the first one, or "Combat Evolved" lol.

The map editor for Halo 2 is AWESOME by the way. Will the older halomaps work with the new map editor for Halo 2?

Halo CE is basically Halo 2 for the PC after installing like the battle rifle/sword mods and stuff.

Can you still hijack vehicles, or play the Halo 2 campaign? I might do this for a friend if you can, he's been wanting to play Halo 2 for PC but he uses XP Media Center.

I believe there are xp fixes for halo 2 that let you play on xp.

If you paid for the game, how could it not be legal? just applying a hotfix allowing the game to run on a different OS?

Yeah just like the hotfixes to run the game without a disc or the hotfix to install the game without a key? lol

Thanks for hijacking guys... this is not about Halo 2!!... its about Halo CE. Back on topic guys. Start a new thread about Halo 2 PC if you want to discuss that. Thanks

the legality of using a no cd patch, and using a copy of a game that bypasses the use of a key are different. On one hand, you paid for your copy of the game, you own it.

Im not saying I condone using illegal copies of games or do it myself, but when it comes to using no cd patches, I dont see why not and in this case an XP patch.

edit: sorry for the hijack. Id love to reinstall my Halo and play :]
