Default *OFFICIAL* The Witcher Thread

Anyone think this game has a shot at being good/fun? It seems interesting and is only a few days away from release. The video at the bottom of the hands-on is pretty cool. Maybe just maybe it might be a good adventure game exclusive on the PC.

But Atari doesn't make this game, they only fund it. The game is made by CDPROJEKT which is a new founded company in Poland. IGN has some videos of gameplay and the real time combat is looking appealing to me...looking into the game since Hell gate London kind of sucks.

heh...I am hooked. The "cave killing" video sunk it for me.

I thik I might move this up to my number one game to get...if it is at least moderately bug free.

Looks like it is what Oblivion should have been.

Yea, lets hope it is bug free. The weapon combat system is pretty cool looking. I don't expect it to be as deep as oblivion but looks like a really Gothic adventure...I enjoy those from time to time...kind of reminds me of the very first Legacy of Kain.

The fighting looked neat enough but the character interaction is goofy as all hell. "Enough talk, let's dance!" Are you serious? I thought this guy was medieval monster slayer not a 90's B-Movie action hero cliche.

That made me LOL

Anyways, the game looks alright. I may look into getting it.

this game looks cool. I hope its not a wreck like enter the matrix...what horrible graphics and horrible gameplay, and you couldn't be the player which everyone wanted to be.

I meant the game play and animations. Ever zoom out and watch your character fight in Oblivion. He'll swing that sword like a drunken, retared monkey. I would certainly hope a game like this won't have as much of story line and the action should be the most important aspect. here it at least looks like the character is doing what you want him to do. Agreed that the acting was cheesey as hell...just less to distract you from the hopefully awsome combat action.

And Oblivion didn't make much sense either way. There wasn't any linear focus on the main plot but it's safe to say the game wasn't centered around its action either. The open end aspect which I think i can say we all liked make the game lose a lot too. You are on a quest to stop demons from taking over the world but you can stop to go run an errand for the fighter's guild?(or what ever little side quest you got going on) I think it would have been a better game with less side quests and a longer main plot, but that is just me.

I do agree with you about oblivion. They should have paid more attention to the main story and the oblivion gate in my opinion got annoying and tedious. Also the way he swung the sword was goofy and made me play in 3rd person view more...though the archery was great. While the interaction and sequences may seem a but quirky in The Witcher one must understand that this game comes from a country that is new to this...thing is that the video that showed how your decisions will cause different situations later was really interesting..I hope some of you did not miss that video on IGN. Another thing is that the magic and combat is nearly guaranteed to be good as the game is built on the Bioware Aurora engine. I am not telling anyone to get hyped for the game but I recommend just keeping an eye out on it. This game was also in the making for a long time, in my opinion it looks extremely promising. Lets hope maybe a demo hits us
