Will i notice a big difference in framerate on my machine once i actually get around to getting my Q6600? I currently play all set to medium @1280x1024 with No AA and get 15-30fps with my CPU @ Stock speeds

I am going to say yes. Yes you will see a significant increase about 5-12 I am guessing. It also depends if your current CPU is OCed and if the quad is going to be OCed.
EDIT: Also is your GPU OCed?

OC the PD to 4.5Ghz and leave the quad at stock. The quad will still tripple it's performance in everything.

Get the Q6600, you will deffinetly see very good differences. But that will only leave you wanting a 8800 Series after that so you can play on high resolutions with high settings and still get more frames a second than your getting now with your current card.
__________________Deffinetly go for it though.. If you have any desire to get a penryn when they come out, then get a E2200 for now and keep it until a few weeks after the penryns drop, then buy one of your choice.

Would my mobo take a penryn? I definitly belive id want a 8800 series, i want one now, but funding for this stuff is kinda limited. I think the 7800 will hold me @ 1280x1024 just fine for now, thats as high as my monitor goes.

Yes your motherboard would take a penryn from what i've heard and seen. With crysis @ 1280x1024 on any 8800 your frames would be crazy im sure. With settings all on high and maybe even some AA added in.

You won't see as much as you would hope since right now you're bottlenecked by the CPU and if you got a q6600, it would be the opposite and you'd have headroom there to upgrade the GPU.

yes you'll get a pretty big jump in performance. Your GPU should handle a few high settings too as it wont be bottlenecked.
