I curious to know what the system specs of the system they used to make a such a kick ass game. I mean like if the game manages to lag on Tri SLI then what the hell are those guys using over there? Dual processing motherboards?

Yeah Gex. The GPU's that NVidia churns out for Graphic designers would make your head levitate. The stuff those guys used to make Crysis could probably run the game at 250FPS.

The Plex seems to be a bargain for large CGI animation companies like Pixar & DreamWorks.

Thats a difficult question. Perhaps it would be better to ask what computer did they beta test it on, or benchmark it with.
__________________For making the game, different rigs are used. Programmers need a fast compiling machine, and make use of lots of processors. Designers need workstations with professional Quadro or Fire graphics cards to process large 3D models and create detailed textures. Crysis would probably run like crap if at all on one of the graphics workstations they used to make the game models. Quadro cards are meant for developers, not gamers.

The developers don't need to have the game running in real-time on full graphics while they are making it. Sure they can have a fancy rig to test it on while developing, but the rigs they used to make it don't have to be anything fancy. When they are sitting in their 3d programs or the sandbox editor, they can work with all the textures, HDR, dynamic lighting turned off. Things like that are mostly distracting when developing.

Not when you factor in how many those companies probably had to buy. I think a full length film like Pixar makes takes something like 200 graphic artists working 12-18 months to produce... 200 Quadro's..... pretty penny lol.
