I dont see much of an advantage to the gold when on pc. Theres never anyone on ranked or player matches, I just stick to list play. I suppose the friend invite is handy though.

I find the lag varies quite a lot not just with distance. Ive played games with lots of lag with the host in Germany and the least laggiest/laggyest??lol, game I played the host was in USA.

The game looks good and all, but do you have to pay a monthly fee to play online? (besides of course for my ISP)

I haven't been able to enjoy this game because of the annoying studdering issue. Still waiting for a fix.

You don't have to pay to play online. You have to sign up for a free Silver Xbox live account which lets you play 'list play' matches. You can upgrade to a Gold account for about $5 a month that lets you play player and ranked matches and invite friends to matches.

Try these solutions. 2 and 3 will change the textures a bit in some instances
(Different systems need different combinations)
(MAKE SURE TO MAKE BACKUP COPIES OF THE FILES FIRST BEFORE YOU EDIT)

1) Go to my documents/my games/gears of war for windows/wargame/config
Open WarEngineUserSettings.ini
Change:
OneFrameCPULAG=TRUE to OneFrameCPULAG=FALSE

2) Go to my documents/my games/gears of war for windows/wargame/config and open WarEngineUserSettings.ini
Change the following:

Well technically its supposed to be Windows Live but they just redirect you to the Xbox Live site anyway. Incidentally I don't think you can play against Xbox players for some reason.
