I have owned Half-Life since 1998. I don't like ego shooters but this is the best game I have ever seen. I own all Half-Life parts and hopefully I can play Episode Three on my old computer... ;-)

you can use the program installed with it (character pimper) and changed them all back to the normal skins. the civilians look sweet, all bruised and bloody, alex is hott. i couldnt get over the new alex skin, it just wasnt her, but the newer old skin rules. she was my very first, and only, video game crush...

I have been to the part with the bridge. I suppose I may have gotten farther than I thought I did.

Also, I have an old retail version of HL1. Can I get it to work with Steam, or would I have to rebuy the game to play it now?

I recommend playing through at least once with everything original, but this is only on principle. The characters aren't changed that dramatically (except alyx )

When I bought my Half-Life in 1998 there was no Steam.

Try to activate your registration key into your Steam account. My 10 years old key works and Steam gives me Blue Shift, Opposing Force, Deathmatch, Counterstrike and some other Half-Life 1 engine based games as gift.
