Default Cod 4 28.8k 300 ping

Many may know but some don't so:
It can be done it has been done and I do it. when I have the DVD for cod installed.

Ive herd a few people say that they don't wanna buy Cod 4 on their PC because they can't play multiplayer on dial up..

Not true, you can play multiplayer on dial-up if you enable the console and type /rate 1000. This will decrease the size of the packets you sent to the server the lift the load on how much your modem has to send. I play at about 300 ping and can not join many servers. But when you do and you get used to it it can be done. I have a lvl 51 and played only on dial-up

there are other commands like /snaps 10 but punkbuster and some server admins get angry for changing it..

I don't know how people will handle 300 ping but im an ok good player so maybe I can just do it.

This works with COD 2 as well

If I had to play like that, I would just drop it. It's simply not worth lagging like that.

In most games with servers semi-close (around the midwest) I have less than 50ms ping, and the most I get is 100ms. Chicagoland servers I can get as little as 33ms ping in HaloPC.

People still use dialup? :P

I used to play Quake 2/3 on dialup. If I could get a ping between 200-250 I was extremely happy.
