Welcome to the (official overclock.net) Project Torque thread!!!

Here you can discuss the game and organise games!

First off, thanks to dskina for his thread as I would never had found the game in the first place link. Thanks also to Moostfox for his players list link.

All you need to is sign up with area games and download the game and that's it, it is free to play. Link

NOTE : Project Torque has just been updated with a patch called Diane. If you come across a bug you can report it in the forums here


Small tips (and FAQ) Just a few tips that might be helpfull when you start out ...(Here's a FAQ from the PT forum)

-You can use T to toggle the chat window. It could be another key, just go into options>control and click on the chat tab and then see what "Toggle chat" is set to.
You can toggle it on, then use enter to bring the curser into the box instead of having to use the mouse. If even the cat box gets in your way when racing, you can pause the game and use the mouse to move it out of the way.

-Points system and in game cash : When you start the game, you will have a certain level which will progress as you do races and win XP points (like in evolution GT, COD4). Each level allows you to do certain things, so as you progress you will be able to race more maps and get upgrades that are locked to a certain level. You buy things with RP, which you win just like XP from races, but also you have AP (Area points). These are points that cost real money and allow you to buy licensed cars or special backpack items (I will come to backpack in a minute).

-When you start out you will have the choice of 4 " starter cars". If you don't get on with the car, you can try the missions 12 and 13 (maybe others) which allow you to win the car you use to do the mission upon completion, saving you having to buy another car.

-Backpack items : The backpack items can be found in the shop under the "misc" button. These items can add something to the car or to the game mode. To use a backpack item you have to buy it, then click on the backpack button at the bottom of the screen when in a room and double click on the item ( so it goes from the bottom box to the boxes along the top ) to use it for the race. Items will stay in your backpack until you take them out and can be used depending on how many are bought (1pcs = 1 race, you can buy a few at a time, highlight it, over on the left you can choose how many (for items marked 1 pcs) or buy 10 and repeat process if you want more (up to 100)

They changed the level system in the new patch, it's now 'level 15' instead of B-IV

You should, doesn't matter i you don't have the uber cars, you can still have a good game if everyones equal.

There aren't tons like in other car games, among the ones created by area you can find licensed cars like the Mitsubishi Evo, subaru Impretza, RX7, Corvette and others. You can also just stick to the cars that can be bought with RP.
Since the new patch I have read a couple of times about new content being added every week so there should be more cars later on, speaking of which, they released one last week called the Spiedo Forte.
