Thanks guys, I'm probably going to end up getting both now that I think about it. I'm having too hard of a time deciding on only one.

TF2, i love both games. but TF2 takes the cake. I love sniping with my awesome MX518 and Zboard mousepad.

Smooth as butter lol, headshots all around.

I'd say both, but if not then get COD4. It's a great game, best multiplayer I've played, plus the most amzing single-player. I'm busy replaying it on Veteran and it will last me years! lol it's a great game. Also, it's not plagued by issues like 2142 with bugs and hacks, or bad performance or slow loading. It's overall a great game.

If you want to try out Tf2, they're having another free weekend this weekend I think. Try it out and see if you like it.

They are having TF2 free weekend again, this weekend. That way you can see if you like TF2 or not. My vote goes to TF2, loads of fun and doesn't require much skill for some classes.

TF2 is a more of an investment, as they are constantly imporving the game. I've been playing it for a while and its a nice change of pace from playing your normal fps.

I've been a vocal critic of the TF2 fad that's infected everyone and their dog since it came out, but this is actually a tough choice.

TF2
pros:
-easy to pick up
-more balanced
-greater playstyle variety
cons:
-really cartoony (part of this is personal preference, but most would agree that it tilts a bit too far in TF2's commitment to the style)
-not much weapon variety
-bland maps

CoD4
pros:
-very well presented
-large variety of guns and perks; surprising amount of depth for a straight-forward run-n-gun fps
-fantastic (if short) single-player campaign
cons:
-abundance of nade-spamming
-Some guns/perks unbalanced
-too many gametypes in regard to number/size of maps. You might find yourself playing FFA Deathmatch on a map that's 20 yds. by 20 yds. w/ 30 other people (the extreme case, but it's there). Some servers understand this and designate certain maps for whatever gamestyle, or just don't put the over-crowded ones in the map-cycle

There's little reason not to try both, but be prepared: both these games have been played for many months now and the learning curve has therefore steepened somewhat. New CoD4 players especially can be turned off pretty quick by the mechanics which most current players have either mastered or countered by now (nade-spamming, every nook of every map is well known to most seasoned players)
