Very true , I agree on the Charger weight issue. It was tried out in competition last year , didn't fair too well , driver went back to a viper this year. Not all Japanese cars are light either, check out Ueno's Soarer , even with CF doors it's still heavy.
Oh and someone said something about the Subaru, seeing that thing in person fly by you sideways will make an instant fan. If you ever get the chance to see pro drifting in person, you should go watch it, it's quite amazing.

In the game I like the following in the following order:
Corrolla
Charger
RX7

Yes the Charger in real life is heave and needs lots of room but still drifts ok but in the game I can just drift well with it... The RX7 is a scream you must fly to get it to drift well or atleast I must... The Corrolla since I had an '85 SR5 as my first car, I am very much attached to it.

But many like the Nissian Silvia in this game...

Old school Toys and Nissans FTW. I personally own a 1986 Nissan D21 Hardbody pickup. I plan to redo the entire rear end and swap it out for an independent suspension setup. I know it's going to be very costly and time consuming, but hey... I wanna have fun with it.

I forget how much I love the graphics on this game after not playing for a couple of weeks... The last 3 days I have been playing GRID only, And man what detail. I am playing the game in Ultra @ 1280x1024 and x8 MSAA. Just amazing detail... I get a steady 55-60fps.

Drifting or Racing this game is just fun! Recent I have been trying to play from in Car... Now racing from in car is not as bad as I first thought... Yes it is a challenge but it is do able... But Drifting from in Car (with the gauges and A Plier blocking your view) is hard... As you come up sideways on a corner you have to use the other analog stick to shift your view to out the side window... Just awsome! On Stick for the car steering and on stick for your head view... How that is hard!

Ok there are way too many posts here to sift through, so I'm going to ask straight up.

I just purchased the game, love it, use the 360 controller, its awesome. Ok, that being said, how the hell do I drift?

Do you guys disable all stability controls? Auto/Manual? (I'm assuming manual) Does the car really matter all that much? I kinda like the old Toyota!

Do you need to use the E-Brake that much? Thanks

To start off learning, have all assists on, Auto. The car will matter to some degree but more a personal preference and your ability to control the car, but that AE86 sure is awesome.

Control your speed when entering a drift, to fast will result you crashing into the back of course. When entering a drift power over quickly (counter steer), but almost at the same time apply your e-brake. Just try to maintain the angle of your counter steer or you may spin out.
I probably use the e-brake more than I use the gas pedal .
