Mine works fine in Vista? o.O You've fully patched the game yes?

Try this:
I. Go into c:\program files\diablo II\
II. Find "game.exe" and go to it's properties.
III. Click on the compatibility tab
IV. Check off "Disable Desktop Composition"
V. Save that and then try to run the game.

EDIT: FINALLY IT RAN FINE!!!!!!,i quit FAH GPU2 and it ran like a champ.

When you installed it did you do the graphics test? If not it should be in the start menu under Diablo II. My brother skipped the test thinking it wasn't need and the game would not load until he did graphics test and set it.

I couldn't get the game to work on my comp at all... tried a bunch of suggestions and finally found this one! Worked without a hitch! D2 starts up quick and without problem now Thank you

Maybe more clear:
IV. Check off "Disable Desktop Composition"
Check mark that box (so it is checked).. not off!
Off might have made it confusing.. click so a check is in the box.
