ok, im fed up and its late so apologies if this is in the wrong place or whatever, but it took em about twenty mins to figure out how to post; bit of a forum noob.
__________________Anyway, problem is that when i run cod 4 and other games, they just crash out after a while, in cod 4 everythign else runs skype etc. and sometimes i can get rid of the process by alt tabbing, sometimes not. In cod 4 also, the soudn still runs as does the fog, it is just the picture and game that totally freezes. Now i have tried everythign i can think of, every driver for everything in my pc, reseated everything i own again with another layer of as5, temps are fine. I have reinstalled windows so many times i lost count, tried with and without oc, loose timings, different voltages to various parts etc. i thought i had solved it when we foudn a sata cable to be dodgy (we think) and replaced it and cod 4 was fine for like a few hours then today were back to square 1. has had several techys on the job and none of us can figure it out. gonna try a new hard drive soon as thats all im down to but everythign else works absolutely fine. just games that are causing issues. Also tried loads of dx versions btw. Any help would be so appreciated because im so fed up with this. Cant remember sig rig so specs are here instead: e6550 (prev at 3.3 but currently at stock) w/true 2 gb of ocz plat rev 2 ram (800mhz) p5ne-sli (w/hr-05) 2x wd 250 sata 2s in raid and 500 backup antec 900 case 8800gts 320 (stock) running windows xp 32 bit Please help em someone if you can!!! thank you.

No overclocking?

Non generic awesome title

because we're speaking from experience or from a vast knowledge bank of typicall problems and solutions. When the problems described seem to revolve around a particular issue, it makes sense to start there and spawn off. But it does sound like a vid card issue, try swapping it out or calling your vid card manufacture to rma it.

You break it, I fix it.

when i had my 320 it would do the same thing. the only thing i could do was to turn down the settings in the game. so it wouldnt stress the card as much.
i lowered my resolution is what fixed it for me.

Make sure you have enough cooling and air flow for the graphics card.

Hey thanks all for all yoru time and help so far, never thought i would get as many prompt replies. Tried an 8500gt as well same problems, also lower graphics setting same problems. Also never used to have problem before; it just came out of nowhere.
__________________cooling wise i have an antec 900 with all the fans replaced with xilence 12 cms pushing 68 cfm, not that they make a diff to the cards intake becuas eof th nature of the dual slot cooler, but on the top side of it there is a silverstone sitting next to it as an outtake fan at 110 cfm so cant really get too much better cooling and it should be more than enough. Also, all my case gets blown out with high pressure air every so often so heatsinks are clean as a whistle. will be taking out x fi in a bit see if thats causing any problems. havent deleted that file, what does it do? will give it a go :P Thanks all for yoru help so far. :P

Did you go to Program Files and COD4 and look through every file in that folder and it's sub folders? It's there my friend.
