Default Crysis Warhead Crashes

(Crashed determined not to be Crysis Warheads fault)

I'm running a 1950 pro, medium settings, 8.9 drivers

I was getting a graphic error after 3-4 minutes. Screen flashes mixed squares of colour then blank, no signal to monitor.

I did a hardware changeout and determined the card was playing up. It could coast all day but push it and it would crash.

An inspection of the fan and concealed heatsinks showed obstructions to the cooling airflow. Too much heat build up and it would shut down.

Some dissassembly and a good clean and the card is stable again - bring on Crysis Warhead.

What was amusing was using a 6600gt to test the rest of the system. On opening a savegame the gun looked like it was drawn with crayons and the bush was big chunks of various greens then bit by bit (and I mean bit by bit) detail appeared on the gun and a few minutes later (serious) the green blobs were actually grass etc. I'm starting to appreciate the advances made in gpu speed and design!

Battling here too with the random crashes, seems a prob on the Ati camp.

Default single player game doesn't load

hi i'm having problems loading single player Crysis Warhead, I just get a black screen as if it is trying to load, then a windows app error asking me to close the program, in the task manager it shows crysis is still running.

I have had it working (although not to play warhead, just front end menu), it stopped when i set the display to full screen and hasn't worked since
any help would be much appreciated.

im running:
cpu - E6600 quad core
g-card - Asus 9800GT 512mb
mobo - Asus Striker extreeme
mem - 6gb
os - Vista Ultimate 64bit
hdd - 150gb WD Velocity Raptor

I fixed my version! I got it to work with the Triple c mod and the 177.66 drivers. Thank you Whatsthatsmell for the triple c idea, and christian_piper for the drivers. Anybody else with a nvidia card, try this out.

Try the CCC patch v2.21 and dont select the last option LOD or AI tweaks. Also you should choose DX9 in the patch if youre having trouble with your monitor losing signal, it's a vsync problem. you can force vista to use DX9 by adding -dx9 to your crysis desktop shortcut:

vista 64bit "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis Wars\Bin32\Crysis.exe" -dx9

vista 32bit "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis Wars\Bin32\Crysis.exe" -dx9

Despite trying everything in this topic I still have the same issue with the game crashing at checkpoints.

I also have an 8800 GTS 512 card.

I guess the only thing to do is to wait for a patch...

On a side noteoes any1 else think that their version of optimizing the code means downgrading the graphics?I'm playing Warhead on the exact same settings that I play Crysis and the graphics seem to be a little worse.Things like people and vegitation are not as good as b4 while water and (palmtrees) look the same.
I have had the exact same issue whenever I've tried to tweak the config files..

You have to move your mouse pointer way off to the right in menu in order to highlight a button/option etc.

The way I sorted it was to somehow get to the screen resolution option - change it to anything - then click apply - and it goes to normal again - then redo your res to what you want and things go back to being fine.

Its a weird issue but oesnt effect actual game-play at all.

hi guys,
i'm have troubles with Crysis WH too, while i play it or test it with the benchmarking tool suddenly i get monitor switch off and an OSD message of monitor out of scale (frequency). I was thinking about the monitor, but tried it on a 19" LCD monitor (so lower resolution etc) and got same issue. It happens both on XP and Vista.

i've been checking the logs in the WarHead folder and i get this warning at the end, what could it be?
