Default Custom Warhead Config Comparison

Custom Bustas Custom Config

This is my version of Bustas' Custom Warhead Config. Its slightly, very slightly different from the original config but it certaintly helps in detail. The config makes the game alot more colorful, better lighting, and better all around performance. I HIGHLY recommend it. Here are the comparison screens.

To compare, click and they should open in a new tab. Click all 3 and then swap between tabs for a cool-flip-over comparison of the 3. The --- separate different picture sets.

The config is attached to the post. In order to use it, extract it to...
-Retail = C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crysis Warhead\
-STEAM = C:\Program Files\STEAM\steamapps\common\Crysis Warhead\

Then, right click on the Crysis Warhead SHORTCUT on the desktop, in "target" at the very end of the directory add -dx9.

Example for STEAM version
M:\Games\STEAM\Steam.exe -applaunch 17330 -dx9

Or, with the STEAM version, go to properties and launch options and add -dx9 there. Whichever floats your boat. Or even the Vista Games menu.

Simple as that.
NOTE In order to change resolution, you must edit the config with notepad. Under "CUSTOMIZE THESE SETTINGS" - change the r_height and r_width to your liking. And you can disable V_sync if you wish.

In the config, it shows that you have Vsync enabled (r_VSync = 1). I'm guessing that should be turned off.

Anyways, I'll check this out.

I'm really surprised more haven't commented on this considering how many are posting screens in the other thread. This works really well and should definitely be tried out by more than just two of us.

If I am being honest I don't think there is any need for custom warhead configs, the game looks great as it is.

Though you get more FPS with custom i don't like it. its to dark and brown and makes it look like u are playing with medium. Too much shadows.

They have...I posted the link to this config days ago and even gave screenshots and info on installing it with the extreme texture config. Busta used the level 4 CCConfig as a template and further tweaked it for better performance and quality. The key to gaining more fps with this mod is by using a gamer shadow setting along with a decreased view distance to reduce memory usage and fps drops.

http://www.overclock.net/4622480-post679.html

Here are the links to my first post on this config when it was released: http://www.overclock.net/pc-games/39...c-warhead.html

Here are screenshots with the texture mod included: http://www.overclock.net/4622171-post673.html

http://www.overclock.net/4622480-post679.html

You can find more comparisons posted here http://www.overclock.net/pc-games/38...thread-68.html all within the "pc games" forum.

Nemesis, I would recommend that you install Rygels texture pack. It will make the game look significantly better and run the same. Also, in your config file that you downloaded from bustas, you should set your values for your cpu to match the cores that you have, if you havent done so. You will get even better performance by setting the config to utilize the correct amount of cores.

Heres a screenshot with the bustas config and the extreme texture mod 1920x1200 custom config 4xaa:
