Default Crysis Warhead fluctuating Frame Rates

Hi

Just a quick question, while playing warhead I get extremely fluctuating fps going from one up to 35 approx the only problem is that these occur on thesame scene so I was thinking that it is actually due to the system only having 2Gb of memory and that crysis possibly needs more, because once the scene loads the frame rates go up. (let me paint a picture, I run from a road down to the beach, frame rate drops for a few seconds to under 10 fps and then comes back up to over 24)

Can anyone verify this for me.
Cheers

It could be a number of factors just due to the new scenery, number of enemies, vehicles etc but in this instance i definitely believe your ram is holding you back.

Personally i reckon you should chuck in another 2gb and it will hopefully help you. If it doesn't in this instance, the extra 2gb will help in every other aspect of you pc including other games!

i would say theres a 90% chance its your RAM. Warhead takes up about 1.1GB of RAM on my machine. that only leaves you with ~800mb. which your system chews on.

strong suggestion, when running a 64-bit OS, use 4GB of ram.

64x OS means at least 4gb of ram in all cases...

The way a computer address your memory is different between a 32bit OS and a 64bit os...

on a 32bit OS each memory location (a place in ram that every program on your PC uses to keep track of where data is stored) is 32bits long. On a 64bit OS each memory location is 64bits long...

By themselves this data storage difference is negligible. But throw in factors like, there could be hundreds of thousands of memory locations that your PC is using, RAM usage goes way up.

It takes memory to keep track of where OS/system/program memory is at.

It's easier to say that you just need more ram.

If you don't want more ram, there is a chance that you will see a noticeable difference in performance with a 32bit os installed...

But for sure you will gain so much more by just adding more ram.

And if that doesn't do it..force it into DX9 mode . You can still enjoy Enthusiast settings (at least I can, don't know how for sure though), and at least in my eyes it still looks just as good.

I'd suggest you try out DX9 mode. It seems to me that DX10 on Warhead is still kinda buggy, but the DX9 mode works flawlessly. I can run Enthusiast everything @ 1440x900 on my sig rig, and my framerates don't drop below 25 (playable enough for me considering its Crysis).

Just finished it with sig rig 2gb ram and xp32...no problems here other that frames dipping to about 20fps when things get going a bit.

What setting are you talking about ?

1920x1200 settings to gamer, no aa, or af

I ran it at 1440x900, enthusiast, no aa, no af

but I see now that you are asking pioneerisloud
