Default My Steam Refund Idea

Overnight I thought of an idea about getting refunds on Steam in a way that Steam doesn't loose money and the customer stays happy. The suggestion still needs work but here is the general idea...

Say for example you only have £15 and Left 4 Dead is £20. What I thought is that maybe you could trade in a game you previously purchased on Steam for "Steam credit". "Steam credit" is a virtual currency you can only spend in the Steam store. The "Steam credit" system is very basic and works like this:

Cost of game = Steam credits
£20 = 20 credits
£9.99 = 9.99 credits

etc...

There is one flaw in this idea though. This could turn into a way to play all games for the price of one (by playing a game, trading back for steam credits, buying a new game with those credits, trade for steam credits again, etc). So perhaps a time limit per trade could be put in place.

Tell me what you think!

You have nothing to trade in since the game is virtual and not a physical copy...

They can't get your copy and resell it again.

thats a pretty sweet idea, maybe instead of trading them in for their purchase price you get a reduced price such as two thirds or half of what it cost you.

maybe that would work, like the same fashion the game shops do it, when you trade in a game for xbox360/PS3 or PC.

nice idea. but very unlikley to get passed by steam.

i see your from swindon too mate! nice one.

Yeah but you do lose the ability to play the game you traded in, and if you ever want to play it again, you'll have to re buy it

But a trade-in means that the company gets something in return for credits, in this case i don't think they get anything.

trouble is, steam don't care if you can't play the game anymore, they don't recieve anything, but after a while, you buy all these games and then trade them in for credits and soon you'll be able to buy another game from all the trad ins which in effect becomes free so steam does not profit. every business wants a profit.

Maybe a reduce price is a good idea say you only get 80% of the price back or something.
