I ended getting an X-52 Pro after buying Black Shark, works nicely although it needs setting up carefully.

Just so you guys know, I'm still alive.

I've been monitoring the thread, but I haven't posted in a while.

And yeah, I'd LOVE to go to Oshkosh, but I don't have the funds. But I'll betting a LOT more flight hours in the near future

Does anyone here use the TrackIR system? I was looking at the v.5 ...looks like it is damn-near essential for DCS...

I could have a session up anytime, they'll always be under Bush Flying but doesn't mean that it'll be bush flying.

Just pm me if you ever want one up.

Yeah, for any flight sim it's awesome. . .or driving/racing sims as well. It also looks like it's well supported in ArmaII. I bought the TrackIR3 Pro + Vector expansion, direct from NaturalPoint given that I thought I wouldn't like it and NaturalPoint has a 30 day return policy. Once I had it setup I never once questioned my purchase. I'm sure you won't either. . .especially in a sim like BlackShark where you have such extensive cockpit interface capability, and of course the helmet mounted sight.

TrackIR5 looks nice, but TrackIR 4 is also on sale now, and even the used 3Pro with the Vector expansion will also do most of what the 5 does for less cash. I'm getting the 5 simply to have the better base mechanism for LCD displays and the wider field of the view than the 3, but the 4 would do that for me as well.

I have used mine for 4 years and wouldn't give TrackIR up any sooner than I would give up using a HOTAS or yoke system and go back to a mouse to fly (that was a loooong time ago!).

Oh and there are some real decisions to make about mods and aftermarket investments if you elect to buy a Cougar HOTAS. You will end up wanting to replace the gimbals and pots and that means you end up spending around 700 bucks. The Saitek X-52Pro is pretty nice for the cash, it doesn't have the programming flexibility of the Cougar or the CH fighterstick, but out of the box I like its feel more than the CH, and it's simple and easy enough to program. The main issue I've had with Saitek is that they just don't last. I don't really like the feel of the CH Fighterstick, but it's precise, and they usually last for a loooong time, so if you don't want to be replacing sticks every few years then you might just want to get the CH stick. An old Saitek X-45 with a working throttle is probably a nicer bet than the CH throttle though.
