This is my favorite thread evar.
Well, I've been an aviation nut my entire life, with my interest sparked by my dad who would put my carseat in the cargo area of the Cessna 150s he was teaching in when I was a baby. I took my first formal lesson when I was 13, and have been going strong ever since. As for FS, I played a bunch of FS95 and then 98 on a keyboard, but then finally got my first joystick, a Saitek ST90 (The tripod). It didn't have twist, but whatever. It was better than keyboard. I skipped FS 2000 and went straight to 2002. My Pentium II couldn't run it, so when we got a dell I went crazy. I swear that's all I did for like three years. Anyway, I got FS2004, found out about all the nice 3rd party mods, and got pretty immersed in it. Got my first joystick with twist, an ST 290 pro, and I still use that. I'm on FSX/Acceleration now, and I love it. The realism really is surprising. Anyway, as for mods, I have Carenado's Cessna 150, 182RG, Beech Mentor, and Piper Cherokee. I also have the Captain Sim C-130, and the Realair Spitfire. The Spit really slows down my system though.. Here are a few pictures in no particular order. Actually, they were pretty much picked at random from my 2gig FSX screenshot folder. ![]() ![]() Here I am doing a little "formation flying" ![]() Here's a nice crosswind sideslip in the Cherokee ![]() ![]() Here's base leg for an airport just down the river from my home base. (KSEG) ![]() Here's..oh wait. IRL. And apparently I keep my mouth open on takeoff? ![]() Final approach for my home field. (N13)![]() As you may have deducted, I'm mainly a general aviation kind of guy, but I do quite a bit of flying in IL-2 also. Fun stuff. Also, I apologize for the awful quality of the IRL pics. I didn't have a digital camera when I took those. ALSO: This has been my favorite post I've ever made on OCN.

I fly in FSX Acceleration. Hope to be a real pilot in a couple of years. I only play with keyboard and mouse but it's still fun.

What game is that? That looks amazing. I myself am pretty bored right now and could use a good game. Falcon 4 is fun until you get shot down by massive AAA in every mission. Btw, I hope your not referring to that F-16 in the pictures as an F-15. Here are two pictures from my group. Im the one flying in the formation, in the first picture im on the top, and the 2nd I am in the grey paint. We are all flying the Aerosoft F-16. She is one great addon, but a huge frame hitter. These pictures were taken in the Arizona desert, probably our favorite place to fly, especially since we fly out of Nellis AFB. Formation flying is a great time if you got guys who can do it. I have to say, that gamespy really is a great thing once you actually get logged in. There is virtually no lag at all. The one with the helos is our last flight from Nellis - Area 51 - Nellis. Im flying the back AH-64. These are both AlphaSims UH-60 and AH-64D. The UH-60 is definitely my favorite helo to fly.

Well, I'm 16 years old, so that makes me a student pilot, but, money permitting, I'm really hopeful that I'll be able to take my written and flight test this summer when I turn 17 for my private certificate. After that, I'll work on my instrument and CFI certificates. I get the instruction for free cos my dad's an instructor.
The only big problem is that the club that we're in just bumped their barely IFR Cessna 150 up to 70.00/hr...Well, here are a few screenshots I just took. Here's the Beech Mentor. Fun to fly. ![]() Again, I like it because of it's slow stall speed and its general stability. ![]() Spinnin' ![]() ![]() I saw this on an earlier page..I like Carenado's 182, but to be honest, the sounds are awful. ![]() Doing some slow flight in the 182RG. ![]() I don't know what crack I was smoking when I said the Spit didn't perform well on my rig...it does. Maybe that was just a glitchy FS session.

The game that I posted shots of, same as most people here is Flight Simulator X (FSX). Its a non combat sim, so it mainly attracts the interest of Comercial Pilots and General Aviation. There are groups like mine who do military, but there is not much point to it. I tend to fly the heavies and helos than try to simulate a dogfight without weapons. Your right tho, 4 eyes are better than 2. I have both Pacific Fighters (with IL2 Forgotten Battles and their expansion pack) as well as Falcon 4 Allied Force. 2 Great games to play.
