I would try the same fix. This is more of a fix for punkbuster itself rather than just for COD4. COD4 is the only punkbuster game I have installed, you should try it and see, I'm betting it will work.

I just have a folder called games on my G drive, and PB setup sits in that. Then all my games are installed into sub folders with the name of that game. F.E.A.R. , COD, etc.
And I always install demos into a folder named Demos.
There's a possibility that it may be working since the PB files are not in the default locations for 32 or 64 bit. In Win 7 applications don't have the same rights they use to have in the previous versions. It may be worth someone looking into.

For me I have resigned to dual booting for now. When Seven goes RTM I will try again.

I tried making this work with Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory but no go. It's probably because the latest version of punkbuster for it is pretty old.

Is this actually allowed?

I dont wanna take riscs here. Ive already lost a key for using a hack to bring my acc back to 55. I'm not suprised if they'd start banning keys for 'exploiting' BP services.

They did say they wouldn't go life on win 7 untill the final release.

I don't think its considered exploiting the PB services. You are not doing anything to the services but giving it the necessary rights on your PC.

The problem with this technique, for me, is that the B services gets reset after a few minutes and the "interact with desktop" option gets unchecked.

What may work is changing the default location of the install for COD4. In Windows 7 the C:\Program Files location has tighter permission settings than in XP. If I have time later on tonight I will give it a shot. I've only installed COD4 24,000 times in Win7!! LOL
