Some simple tweaks:

I Want to start here by saying you should keep your view distance at under 2000 (mine is at 1600) and keep your fill rate at 100% (make sure your 2 resolution options match) in order to avoid any unnecessary drops to your framerate.

adding these after the " in your .exe parameters in your shortcut can change the following:

-winxp : use it in Vista/W7 to enable multi-GPU support, will disable use of D3D9Ex (a special Vista only D3D9 version)

-nosplash : skip splash screens

-world=empty : doesn't load as much for menu, starts faster

-maxmem=2047 : allows game engine to use more RAM (2047 is hardcoded maximum atm, anything higher falls back to 2047).

-window, windowed mode

-noCB, turns off multicore drawing, slow down rendering but may resolve visual glitches

-cpuCount=X, change X to a number equal or less than numbers of available cores. (2 seems to have the best results....even on quads!)

In Steam: to use one right mouse button click on ARMA 2 in games list within STEAM interface and choose Properties > Set Launch Options (in General tab) and insert e.g.: -window -maxmem=2047

Those launch options are badass, they helped me out.

I am getting this weird problem with the game where it pauses for about 5 seconds and it happens every two minutes or so. I put my GPU clocks back to normal and it still does it, just not as often. This happen to anyone else?

You may want to check your defrag status. I hear this game is really sensitive to fragmentation because of the way the map "streams" in real-time.

They really need to optimzie this game... I get serious studdering inside the large cities, even on modest settings.
