I hate to say this, because I want to play this so badly, but I suspect vaporware. This thing has been in production longer the Duke Nukem Forever (well not really but it feels much longer because I actually want to play this.)

You really didn't know?

And this isn't vapourware. They have been releasing info over time, and don't appear to have stalled. The teaser trailer came out (relatively) recently.

Also, Valve know about the project and have reportedly given lots of original HL1 content that wasn't on-disc to them to help them, from behind the shadows. They support it, and don't mind it being released as a free mod from what I gather (more publicity for HL2, which is the real source of income here).

They have said it will be released later this year, and it has a surprising amount done (check the teaster trailer). They definitely will not be selling it either.

It has taken a while, but remember they are recreating an entire 14 hour game. That's no small feat.

And no, it won't contain the gearbox additions (Opposing Force, Blue Shift).

Nice, thanks for the input! +rep

That would be the next step: HL:OF and HL:BS

And I still think FearFactory should get his modding hands on this when it's out. Just imagine the awesomeness of having "Black Mesa: Source - Cinematic Mod, the mod for the mod"

Apparently the group doing BM are not touching HL:OF/BS due to 'other groups working on them'.

not needed this thing has higher res textures than HL2 EP2 already, and from reading the forums it needs a 512mb video card to play it on high period

As long as somebody is doing it and it comes out well, I'm happy

Yeah, this game has been in development for quite some time now. I've lost track of this mod due to my impatience.

The Black Mesa Source zombies look scarier than the HL2 zombies. :P So much detail!
