Anyways I was running it at the settings you guys prescribed and crysis keeps freezing, then a window pops up saying

Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding, but has succesfully recovered.

Looks like somewhere my drivers are farked...
Didnt I suggest this in the beginning.....?

forgot to edit that that was 4xAA, 2xAA did a lil better.

but yeah, 1-2 FPS faulty video card all of a sudden?

but re install the enwest drivers if you are getting the nvlddmkm error. last time I got that i uninstalled drivers, cleaned everything with Driver Sweeper and CCleaner, deleted manually the nvidia files and registries etc... and it was fixed

Anyways my computer runs Crysis like absolute and utter CRAP. The only time I get decent fps (30ish) is when I run my computer at 800x600 resolution.

When I push it up to 1680x1050 (my screen's native resolution) my fps goes to 1 or 2, and even alt tabbed out my computer lags so hard I cant even navigate windows.

I tried running Crysis with my bios set to stock, I tried it overclocked, and I tried fiddling around with the in game settings, but the higher in resolution I go the worse it runs.

I just want to be able to run this game at full quality. I would think my computer would be able to at least handle Crysis at
1680x1050

All advanced settings set to Enthusiast

My drivers are the lastest nvidia 186.18

Turn off the AA and use EdgeAA instead. Turn down most of your settings to Gamer.

What?

I ran the original Crysis at ~25fps on my laptop's 7900gs at 1440x900, medium settings. I was able to get about 20fps on an 8600GTS at 1650x1080 low-medium settings.

With a 9800gtx+ at 1650x1080 you should be expecting around 25-30fps.

I agree with what others here have said though, get rid of the AA, a lot of the nvidia cards have trouble with AA and Crysis.

Neither do I. I'm pegging this to be a driver issue, although no matter what you do crysis won't be running at those setting on your rig.

Take off the AA, turn the settings down a bit, and you might see something a little more reasonable, but AA + enthusiast settings is just far to taxing for any single GPU solution. Crysis with AA just devours VRAM, so 512mb just won't cut it here.

Edit: Why does everybody feel the need to ridicule this guy? He came in asking a simple question, and it should've warranted a simple, civil answer.

Just running it at normal settings without the AA and on Gamer but I get about 20 fps, and it CONSTANTLY freezes and then windows comes up with the nvlddmkm stopped working driver issue. I guess I'm going to reinstall drivers now and Ill update you guys when I do.

And I would appreciate it if people would be helpful and not bash on me. If you guys have nothing helpful to say then why say anything at all? Thanks everybody else will keep you posted

9800 + highest level with that rig + resolution + AA = should be getting around 20-35

Also why don't you put everything at stock , cpu+gpu?
Stock is always better IMO.
