Guys I've been a long time lurker and am pretty knowledgeable about computers, but this one really has me stumped - so I had to make an account to ask you guys =)


Anyways my computer runs Crysis like absolute and utter CRAP. The only time I get decent fps (30ish) is when I run my computer at 800x600 resolution.

When I push it up to 1680x1050 (my screen's native resolution) my fps goes to 1 or 2, and even alt tabbed out my computer lags so hard I cant even navigate windows.

I tried running Crysis with my bios set to stock, I tried it overclocked, and I tried fiddling around with the in game settings, but the higher in resolution I go the worse it runs.

I just want to be able to run this game at full quality. I would think my computer would be able to at least handle Crysis at
1680x1050
2xAA
All advanced settings set to Enthusiast

My drivers are the lastest nvidia 186.18
What gives?

Look at your video card.

People have a hard time running this game at full with crossfire/sli and tri-fire/3 way sli.

With your rig you should have no problems running decent framerates at that resolution, I run decent framerates at that resolution! My guess, and this is just a guess is that your having some sort of driver problem, I would try reinstalling your video card drivers.

Really, I dont have any problems running this game with decent frame rates. The hard thing to do is run the game with all the eye candy on at a high resolution.

Yea I mean I can run it 1680x1050 with decent frame rates on medium/high just with what I have. But for full aa and 1920x1080+ resolution with enthusiast setting, will bring any kind of setup to its knees, not to mention a single card solution: 9800. The op has the clock speed, and has the ram, but he needs a better graphics solution if he wants to take a stab at this game.

Yes really. You just said yourself you can't run at high setting at high res. But we can all run it at low and get 100FPS, doesn't mean we have conquered Crysis.

put it on gamer and it should run fine at that res with AA. For enthusiast, upgrade your video card...
