I always start at the hardest setting and back off if it's too hard.

Expert in L4D really isn't that bad, unless you have teammates that like to not watch FF.

I normally start on normal. However if its a COD game then i always start on veteran

If it's a game or series I have played before I always use the hardest difficulty. on new games I usually leave it on what its set at.
