ok, i have that same PSU and that should be enough. It is getting close to maxed out though, and depending on however many perifierals you have, that will contribute to how much power is consumed. The Raidmax RX730SS psu gives 48a over the +12v rails and the 285 needs 40.

No, it does not supply 48a. 2 rails with 24a each does not combine to 48a.

Not sure what the proper equation is, but its around 38a. give or take a few, not really sure.

Okay sorry for the wait, I did what you said and returned my CPU overclock back to its stock setting with Cool n Quiet enabled and so far Aion and Crysis Warhead are working. I will check Crysis and GTA4 and see how those hold up.

How could such a mild overclock effect my system like that? This was also the overclock profile (7%) on my bios. I would think factory settings would be optimal.

Thanks for the help

really? i always thought you added all the +12v rails to get the total amperage.

I'm far from an expert on power supplies, but I'm certain that theres a special way of adding the rails together. Don't want to guess, so I'll wait until someone with more knowledge on power supplies posts here

usually don't bet on those overclocking profiles unless it's a really high end board......but yes.....a slightest voltage fluctuation would cause erratic system behavior......that's why you have to keep playing with it untill you find the sweet spot
