Default fallout 3 freezes

Just got fallout 3 on steam. Been trying to play it but it keeps freezing randomly. Googled around but all I found was more people with the problem and no solution. Anyone have any ideas?

It's not fixable. Even with a retail version i get lots of freezes. It's the unreliability of the Gamebryo Engine Bethesda used for it. Until they do Fallout: New Vegas with a different engine, it' won't be fixed.cNone of the patches fix the freezing issues.

Unfortunately, it's a common problem with the game. They need to address it with a patch or something.

The patch can't fix it. They tried to with the last 6 patches. The game engine was written poorly and fast, so now they pay for it with an unstable game. Usually the Game Freezes when loading building insides and stuff opening doors and things. When you need to usually load alarge texture files Say when exiting a buidl;ing to the capital wasteland. It has to load the entire wasteland. 8I have a worse prblem since i have the High Quality Textures pack mod on my Fallout 3 install, so i have lots of bad crashes because it can't handle the huge texture files.

Why does everyone say this is such a good game then... I can't play a game that randomly freezes. I haven't even made it out of the vault yet.

I've had fallout 3 running for 9-10 hours at a stretch with the 1.5 and 1.6 patches. No crashes, freezes, or lock ups, at least on a fully patched game.

What cooling is on that GTX285 of yours and how did you stress test that OC? Fallout is pretty sensitive to flaky overclocks.

I'm running stock gpu my cpu I have set at 3.6 I never go lower than that on my cpu and its never given me any problems. I get about 3 mins of game play each time I restart the game.
