Short answer - NO
Long answer - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

If you honestly think this service is going to be half decent, even WITH the BEST internet connection possible - you're out of your mind. What you're getting with the OnLive service is compressed video. Even with HD resolutions, you're getting this. Oh thats ~great~, I can't even see the god damn license plate of the car!

Anyone who thinks this will take off is an idiot, and will probably end up being one of the first to fall for it. The only ones that can maybe make this possible is the one AMD has been working on or whatever. That is because they have the resources and are actually well known. Not to mention they actually have a working video demo.
OnLive is done by a bunch of no names with 2 databases. Yes, only 2. "And a 3rd on launch". They're going to get a royal, rightfully deserved slap to the face by reality. They know it too because they need to use fixed show demos to display their service the idiots.

I don't want it to work.

Before you dismiss me as an ******* troll, hear me out.

PC gaming will die, it will make out PC's into consoles. First of all, graphics will stop moving forward. The servers won't want to upgrade their gfx hardware/overall crunching because they make more money if they don't. You think the game designers are going to build a game for the 20% of the PC world with a conventional PC who can still crank the gfx? Not likely. Secondly, and modding or aftermarket maps are dead, plain and simple. When a person can easily triple their gameplay length by downloading AAA mods after they buy HL2, why would you give that up? (proof in the sig [shameless plug]).

So, if this does happen, sure everything is nice and simple in that you don't have to worry about upgrading your hardware, but you also lose incredible graphics and modability. It's the hard way to create a console experience IMO.

We'll have to wait...

In the end, we're just speculating but, because of the fact that have been proven, it's more likely that it's going to fail but, as I said, we'll have to wait...

The advantages I see from this is that I won't have to spend 2k every 2 years in upgrades to run every new game in full HD with highest details... but as I said, let's wait to see the real results shal we?

And in that way, I invite you guys to stop this blatant flame war against OnLive. I respect everyone's opinion, and some of you are TOTALLY RIGHT. But I think this has gone way too far.

That's all... dismissed

Onlive is either Vaporware, or a company that will find a VERY small niche in the market and fizzle out when development costs aren't recouped. I seriously doubt it's viable simply due to bandwith use, let alone latency, etc... The ISPs will pull a Dick Cheney on Onlive if it uses as much bandwith as it will need to to produce a viable signal for 720p+ and if they DO manage to compress it enough that it won't use much bandwith, then the degradation/latency due to video processing alone will be enough to render it useless. It's DOAware, really.
