There are 5 factions that you can choose from when getting to lvl 15 .
Vim- It's like a tank faction , plenty of HP ,and plenty of defense.
Skysong- Like a wizard and the healer class of this game .Has a weak defense.
Modo-Can transform into demonic posture and it's probably an end-game faction
Lupin-Great dmg and normal defense,probably end-game also.
Jadeon-Sword hero who uses a bit of magic .
I'm on the Europe server called Shura

I know it's not new, and I know it won't last longer, as FFXIV is coming on 2010, but I REALLY enjoy Final fantasy XI much more than any other MMO I've ever played, it maybe because of the type of game or it may be because I've met there the best people, but it's an awesome game. Also now it's just easier since they introduced Level Sync (but be aware of your weapons skills =P).
I's all PvE, it has little PvE but it's unbalanced as hell, because the game it's not thought for PvP so, don't mind that. And also as the game has now all the expansions and such it has MASSIVE content to do and play.
SO my advice is to try FFXI util The Old Republic or FFXIV come out.

Old Republic is the definetly the next MMO I'm looking at though.

That's the only one I'm really looking forward too. I don't think anything is pulling me from WoW until this. Even SC2. I'll play SC2, but I don't think I'm dropping WoW all the way when it's released.
