8200RPM HDD Overclockz!

Alright guys, here's a new one for you to figure out.
My system CANNOT run Motocross Madness maxed out @ 1680x1050 res. I just installed it, and it runs on Vista x64 out of the box (hey, a nice plus). So I go into the options, set everything to the max, and 1680x1050 res, and then I get in-game. I'd estimate that some places with heavy vegetation dropped me down to 10fps. Might let FRAPS run the next time around to find out exactly what the framerate was... Anyway, I brought down the visuals to 4/5, selected the box that says "force textures to reside in video memory", and put the res down to 1280x800, and it runs relatively smoothly. Any ideas as to why I can't max it out though? I mean, this was a game that you could almost max with a PIII and a 32MB video card back in the day!

Hmmm... any other thoughts? Even if it was laggy back then, surely today's computers could max it out??

Right, the game couldnt run more fast if it tried, the FPS's are like 150 ~ 300.
Everything is maxed, but I can only chose 1280x1024?

Definitely weird. I'm not getting anywhere near that framerate at a lower res! Not sure why you can only choose 1280x1024 though... maybe MS added widescreen support for it later on? My copy came free with Mechwarrior 4, so it might be updated/buggified differently than whatever you have.

I do not have the option to run anything beyond 1280x1024.
__________________Heres a tip: you dont need to install fraps to see the framerates, just hit the F key while in game, and the FPS will show up in the corner of the screen. This is probably and might still be my all time favorite game.
