Default What games should I be able to max out with SLi GTX 260's?

Basically, i7 920 and SLi GTX 260 c216's @ 1920x1080 w/ Win 7 (dx10 when available).

By maxout I mean 100% smooth gameplay all the time - no stutter - min fps of 60 w/ Vsync on. I don't like tearing, but also anything less than 55-60fps with Vsync on seems to cause a stutter - maybe some people are able to just play through it, but fps drops are too noticeable to me.

Games that I have been able to max out:
  • Call of Duty: World at War
  • Dawn of War II

Games that I have not been able to max out:
  • Crysis/Crysis Warhead - Obvious. Can get away with default Very High, No AA with about 28-30 min FPS.
  • The Witcher - Can max everything, except for AA. There are very specific areas that when looking at them causes FPS to drop to 30 with AA on.
  • Anno1404 - Can only run on High without AA. Very high settings causes fps to drop to 40 on some parts of the maps in later missions, which causes a noticeable stutter when fully zoomed out and panning the map.

This combination of cards seems to be left out of most benchmarks from what I could find.
So I'm looking forward to any suggestions. I will report back if I happen to already have the game or if I can find it for cheap or if it's a game worth buying.

60FPS maxed out?
Good luck.
You could max out pretty much everything, but expect averages in the 40s and 50s.

To be honest you should probably make the thread... What games can i NOT max out.

DEPENDING ON RESOLUTION OF YOUR MONITOR. You should be able to max anygame made before 2007 EASY. ( ie dx9 games )

Newer games are going to come out monthly that your computer will be stressed by, which is why nvidia will have the 360000000602306 series card out! xD

For another 500 dollars by the way.

Yeah I guess. It just seems like I read so often on here people saying to owners of a single 4890 or single GTX 285, "Just go with a single card, you should be able to max everything except Crysis"

I guess everyone has different interpretations of what maxing is....to me it's Vsync on to eliminate tearing and min fps of 60 on a 60hz display at whatever resolution the display is...

Can you get 40+ FPS in Crysis with Very High or Enthusiast at 4xAA? Don't think so. I think we are talking about being able ot fully max it out, 16xAA and still have playable framerates.

SLI 260s will do Crysis Warhead on Enthusiast and 16xAA and maintain FPS in the 30 range and 40s, Crysis will need some sort of custom config since it looks like crap, and configs make it run better and look much better. With the MSTER Config I can run Crysis with 16xAA and get 30+FPS throughout the game.

like this, dx9 vs dx10

Games you can max out

Call of Duty 4
Half-Life 2
CS:S
TF2
Doom 3
Portal
Unreal Tournament III
Assassins Creed
Left 4 Dead
Street Fighter 4 - Just tested it ran maxed out 60 FPS avg.
Prototype - Ran maxed out avg was around 52 FPS, but it dropped to 40 at points. No tearing or anything like that so it ran perfect in my eyes.
X-Men origins Wolverine - Maxed out 60 FPS avg.

Games I'm not 100% sure, but will double check later

Far Cry 2
Fall Out 3
Fear 2
Bioshock
Hawx

Edit:

Ah gotcha I wasn't too sure if L4D was good or not. I knew that I didn't have any problems, but forgot what settings I had used.

Benchmarked a few more games if anyone cares lol.
