doesn't do great with H2V, works fantastic with CS:S.

Thanks

that Pentium 4 doesn't help you at all and neither does that 6800 you really need a dual core and an 8800gt to get solid 60

If your dad likes to tinker suggest that you could tinker together on a new rig. But if you can't, this card will do ya right.

These are two flavors of about the same card. The ATI 4670 is about the best card you can get right now for around 60 dollars and it does not require extra power.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102820
This one I purchased for a friend. Although the fan is a bit loud it is a top seller on Newegg and of course a great value. I would say for you it will have slightly better performance than the 2nd card I list here because it has a higher memory clock speed which will increase FPS. Although it has half the memory (512mb instead of 1gig) if you aren't running a hi-res monitor the faster memory will make more of a difference and less memory won't hinder you. People say this card is loud. It is hard to say, I have yet to install mine for my friend and everyone's ears/systems are different. A lot of people do however mention it is loud so I would keep that in mind.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102854
This is practically the same card by the same manufacturer but some people say it is pretty quiet. Looking at it objectively the heatsink is beefier and the fan is larger. The larger heatsink would help temps and the larger fanblades would need to spin at slower RPMs to move the same amount of air so logic states that it would most likely be quieter. I would get this one if you are worried about the noise, although you probably wont notice it with the 5 year old heatsink on that hot P4 throttling up and down throughout the day, at least that is what my friend's P4 of about the same vintage does, it is annoying!

I hope that works, as I understand you have an old system, thinking about upgrading within the next few months and you need a card for under $100 that requires little power and is PCI Express 1.0 x16. All PCI Express 2.0 x16 cards are backwards compatible with Express 1.0 x16 PCI slots. You don't need a PCI Express x1 card do you? I was not clear on that. If that is the case, this card will work and for 70ish shipped it is a pretty good deal. I picked mine up for 55 I think shipped so you could do better on black Friday.

Good luck man!
