Hi guys,

I finally bought a (legal) copy of Halo 2 Vista running on Windows 7 RC, using the sig rig below. I've been playing online, and every now and then, right before I frag/get fragged, the frame rate just goes down, and I find myself in a slide show for about 3 seconds before I actually die.

My 6800 is capable of running it over 60FPS, just not consistently. Are there any tips you could give so that FPS stays consistent?

I'm running H2V at 800 x 600, windowed, lowest textures, no AA, gamma, etc. Lowest settings possible to get the best frame rate, and it still does it.

you are running it on almost the bare minimum so i believe a gpu upgrade might be your only solution

Can anyone give me a link to a GPU that doesn't need power or cables from the PSU and is PCI-Express 2.0 or 1.0?

My dad wants to tinker with computers so he's offering to buy me a GPU.

NVIDIA 6100, ATI X700, or above is the minimum for Halo 2. The slide show is your GPU choking on the death animation. It is not sufficient to run the game at a desirable level, it is only sufficient to run it.

That game sucked and had weird performance issues. In some levels my frame rate would get choppy on my sig rig. My SIG RIG. Halo 2 should not ever stutter with a 3.7Ghz Core 2 and an OC'd 4890.
