Well..Im stumped. I got this new gfx card and I almost maxed out the setting on flight sim but I just can't get it. When at JFK I get like 10-17 frames. I was thinking of either getting an E8400, or a Q9550. Do you think I will get better frames with either of those two cpus. I have FSX by the way with Service pack 2. The rest is in the sig. I was hoping to get an E8400 this how I don't have too spectacular of a cpu when I dump it for an I7 in the distant future. Thanks
Also just to kill two birds with one stone..What is better. Captain sim or Leval D or 767. Thanks ocn

FSX is a fairly CPU dependent simulator so I'd go with the Q9550 with a healthy overclock on it.

FSX need a quad, more so if you have a load of payware add-on with it

For 45nm silicon, 1.45V in Vcore is not unsafe, however 1.3V in Vtt already is. 4. LGA1366 for SLI/CF. 5. Performance Enhance to Standard for memory issues on Gigabyte boards.

FSX is really badly coded, I cant even max it out with the rig in my signature, crysis maxes better for me...

FSX will crush even a good system, and is mostly CPU/RAM-dependant. A good GPU will help, but if your system isn't strong enough, you'll get 10-20 frames, at best.
Also, I've had really good luck with Captain Sim products. Never had Level D, but have heard good things. The only downside to Captain Sim is that their products are very expensive when they're first released. Last edited by BadFader : 3 Weeks Ago at 01:56 AM |

I actually got better FPS when I disabled SLI, FSX also kills hard drives, you need good fast access otherwise you'll lose frames while the CPU pulls the new textures off the disk

pretty much CPU dependent. I got the same FPS with a Q9550 with a 9300 (integrated) than with a Q9550 and a GTX 260. Hard drive too though..... .. lots of things. Graphics cards don't matter much unless you're running @ really high resolutions.

so I should probably try and get a new hard drive first and then maybe new ram. Im pretty good with my cpu for now. You think?
Captain sim is good? I heard they are not trustworthy or something. Thanks 1440X900 for res.

I am also at 1440x900, and when I made the jump from 2/3 cores to my quad, the difference was amazing. No kidding when I say I got 10+ FPS increase.
