Default Sacred 2 random stuttering Steam version.

So I just made an impulse buy and got sacred 2, now I'm getting random slowdowns for no apparent reason. Physx on or off and I'm getting worried that I won't be able to play it. I heard somewhere that it may have something to do with my sound card but I've yet to find a possible solution.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

system looks more then able to play it - what you must remember is that your steam version is a bit different then its retail counterpart.

add -nosound as a launch command and retry the game - see if it is in fact your sound drivers.

Im assuming your gpu, sound, mobo, and other drivers are up to date installed by you, and not microsoft. - if not fix it asap.

when the game is launched go ahead and check out your cpu/ram usage, as well as monitor those temps from time to time - especially gpu.

Even with my sig system, I also got some random slowdowns in that game (down into the low 30's) on occasion ... in particular, the swamp area, and on the island that has the city built amongst the trees (especially in and around the tree houses). Never did get the problem entirely sorted, I just played through it. IIRC, making sure I left the settings at default in the NVCP and just worked with what was available in-game seemed to help ... been awhile since I played it though. Twas a very fun game ... played through with two different characters, both the good and bad story-lines.

Wow...ok. Running the actual exe in the sacred2/system folder in windows xp sp3 compatibility did the trick. Go figure.
