Default Dragon Age - Bored after 8 Hours...

I tossed out $65 for the digital deluxe version. I played for 3 hours, 2 1/2 hours of that was dialog. Got bored pf the excessive dialog and quit. Then today I played for another 5 hours, hoping the dialog would cut down a bit. I was wrong.

Steam claims i've played for 8.9 hours. I would estimate about 7 hours of that was dialog, and another hour was managing my party's tactics (aka their AI and how they adjust to combat situations). Then they'd just leave my party after fighting for 15 minutes (taking any armor/weapons I gave them with them)... and I'd have to do it all again with a new party member.

Mass Effect, KOTOR, etc... all a bit heavy on the dialog side, but not to excessive - unlike this game. I can't get into a game where I fight for 10 minutes, than chat with people for 1 hour, rinse and repeat.

Am I crazy or does anyone else agree?

You start getting permanent characters. The combat is slow, there is TONS of story and no this game is not as shallow (!) as ME or KOTOR. I have put about 14 hours into it and I can finally say that I am starting to get the hang of it and really enjoy it.

Is there any way to get rid of the other gray warden or is he "permanent"? I can't think of his name for some reason. He's shield/tank spec... but so am I.. kinda pointless having 2 tanks in a 4 person party. Don't try to spoil me, a simple yes or no will work. lol.

yes you can, you can swap out characters to create your group i.e. swap out your hound for a rogue character.
in order to do this you have to find other characters that want to join your group through interaction.

Seeing from your first post, you don't seem to like dialogue which this game requires alot of. You basically have to talk to everyone when in a new area to make sure you gather all the necessary information and possible quests/perks.

I don't mind dialog when it involves something i'll actually encounter in the game, such as a side quest or main quest.

However.. 90% of the dialog in the game is about stuff that.. really doesn't matter if I know or don't know?

I'll give the game another go tomorrow.

Bored? Man here I'm thinking this is the most amazing computer RPG game I've ever played.

Different strokes for different folks.

See that's the difference between a game like this and other RPG's. The people that really enjoy this game are the type that love a story that is filed with a amazing amount of content whether or not it is "useful" for the game itself. Similar to the Neverwinter Nights series, a character can spend a good hour simply talking to individuals in a certain town if he wishes to obtain a staggering amount of information about lore and just about anything else, it's all part of the deeply entrenched role playing experience.

My advice, if you want to really enjoy the game is to take it slowly and take the time to talk to every character you possible can and take in all that information that is given. Not only does this give life to the game itself, but it also demonstrates the immense amount of work Bioware put into this.

Just my 2cents

Well said seabass, my feelings exactly with this game..Best game I've played since fallout3, both are in my top 5 all time.

Murlocke, at some areas, usually ones that you select on your map to travel to, you can click the icon 2nd before last at the top toolbar and you can redistribute your party members, not to reveal any gameplay but there is a "hub" so to speak, your camp, which you can reselect party member.

How are you answering the dialogue? While there are a ton of dialogue options there for people that are into that, there are also options like "I am ready, let's go" "Let's get a move on", "I understand" etc etc.

Answer like that when available and you get the least amount of dialogue. Personally, I'm a let's get to the point type of person, tell me what needs to be done and I'll figure out how to do it.
