Default Graphics card sales and PC games.

I wonder if graphics card sales have been dropping a good amount since the PC gaming market is crumbling. I know that some people are still upgrading their cards but I wonder if there will come a time when Nvidia or ATI start paying developers to make games for the pc platform or if the gpu will be interchangeable on consoles.

If the GPU were interchangeable on consoles, there would be no reason to buy a PS4

That is like saying nobody would upgrade to and i7 because the processor in the current computer works.

I however got to thinking about it and if the gpu was interchangeable then it would make things hell for developers as far as graphics go. Also it would pretty much defeated the point of owning a console (only having to upgrade every 5 years).

I meant that no one would buy a new gen $500 console they would just put a $200 better card in their existing console.

I think that would reduce the profit margin of the console makers, who I believe already have pretty slim margins. And yeah, the developers would have to either create minimum requirements or dumb game potential down to run on the standard equipment crowd's consoles

If people weren't buying graphics cards then it would be easy to find a 5870 in stock.
