Note: I have bought CoD5 legally
So the other day I was on CoD5 on my iMac (X850XT has no SM3.0) and all was good. Then I left it, my sister came on and hit eject to see if anything was in, nothing came out so she stuck in Sims 2 (guess what happended). DVD-Drive went "Om nom nom nom nom" and after my dad managed to pull out both disks it turned out that the Sims 2 was fine but my CoD 5 disk isn't. If I put it in the disk drive it will recognise the disk and load the autoplay menu and will even load the included install menu etc. However, if I load Co-Op/Campain then it just gives me the "Insert correct CD/DVD" ![]() Is there a legal way of getting it to work without the disk (maybe even a crack/torrent that forces it to pass the check). I understand that is illegal but I have bought the disk and will use my own CD key so I can't see any serious issue with it. Any suggestions? Thanks, - Toon

Erm... can you try ripping an ISO file of the disc and then mounting it? That should work.
If not, you can get a NoCD crack which I believe is legal if you bought the game, but I'll say no more, just in case.

Downloading a No-CD Crack is illegal. It is bypassing part of the methods that the company placed for the game which is to have the disk in the drive to be played. Even if you have a license it's still illegal.
If you contacted the company and asked them, they would tell you that downloading a crack for the game is breaking the EULA that you agreed to when installing the game. Bypassing EULA's = Not for OCN.

Unfortunately, this is true. The DCMA makes it illegal to bypass copy protection, even if what you intend to do is entirely legal.
All the more reason we should fight against horrible, unjust laws like the DCMA, cut-off laws, etc... that presume guilty until proven innocent, and limit your rights to do what you want with something you purchased. In theory, you might be able to contact the publisher for a replacement disc. In reality, it's slow and they might not do it.
