So, does the PC gaming world have a new champion - a new benchmark game on which to base comparisons of hardware? The minimum requirements for Shattered Horizon are the steepest ever, suggesting on paper that it could/should replace Crysis in the "Can it play X" scenario. But what are your opinions on the quality of the graphics in Shattered Horizon? I don't have the game, but the screenshots look amazing - the textures are incredibly detailed, and there are clearly many polygons on the screen.
Bearing in mind how big an impact Crysis had on the gaming world from a technical perspective (and continues to have), I'm surprised that Shattered Horizon hasn't had the same hype. I'm tempting to buy it just so I can see how good it is technically, with gameplay a secondary bonus. I think my rig would struggle though, as it's below recommended specs, which usually equals the lowest settings. Anyway, this thread is about your discussion of the graphics of Shattered Horizon & Crysis, and which is better - as well as the question "Do we have a new industry standard by which the graphics of games can be compared to?"

I have no doubt that Crysis has better overall graphics, but the lighting in Shattered Horizon is amazing. And you have to remember that this is a multiplayer game. With all of those people, you can't have a ton of extra graphical features. Even Crysis's multiplayer had gimped graphics compared to the single player.
With that said, I do think we have a new benchmark for multiplayer graphics. Also: I'm sure your rig will handle it just fine on medium-high.

Shattered Horizon is far more intensive on your hardware. For crying out loud, recommended is a Q66 or a Phenom II x4 and a GTX260 or 4870!!!!!
Also the game is fun. I was a beta tester and got to play it (not my graphics card cannot play it...) but it is similar to CSS.
